Los Angeles, CA, April 27, 2016, Steven Giannotta, Neurosurgeon and Chairman of Neurological Surgery at Keck School of Medicine of USC, has been recognized by Elite American Physicians, for dedication, achievement and leadership in neurosurgery.

Recognized for more than 35 years of invaluable contributions to the field of neurosurgery, Dr. Giannotta has developed surgical means to manipulate the cardiovascular system. Specializing in the areas related to cerebral blood flow and protection from ischemia, his methods of controlling ischemic effects of cerebral vasospasm have resulted in new treatments.  Furthermore, he has developed a comprehensive set of surgical techniques to treat cerebrovascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord. On a daily basis, he performs surgeries, treats patients with cerebral diseases and conditions, including aneurysm, stroke, cranial base tumors, arteriovenous malformation and cerebral vascular disorders. In addition, he teaches on the staff of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, educating students on cerebrovascular disease, cranial base tumors, hemifacial spasm and trigeminal neuralgia. He was also selected by the provost of the Keck School of Medicine of USC to recruit a new dean. Dr. Giannotta is proud to announce that the Keck School of Medicine is a recipient of the coveted R-25 grant from the NIH.

On May 2, 2016, Dr. Giannotta spoke at one of the largest events from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work he has put in throughout the three decades of his career, stemming from becoming board certified from the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1980. Consistently ranked as one of the top doctors in neurological surgery, Dr. Giannotta has received this honor numerous times from Castle Connolly. He has also been recognized as a top doctor from Pasadena Magazine, and received a Distinguished Service Award from AANS/CNS and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. In addition, he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Giannotta earned the prestigious Yasargil Award from the University of Arkansas in early 2017. He is a published surgeon, with journal entries in such publications as the Journal of Neurosurgery, Operative Techniques in Neurosurgery, Operative Neurosurgical Techniques and The Practice of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Giannotta was originally selected for inclusion in EliteAMERICAN Physicians in 2016. We are proud to be featuring him again in EliteAMERICAN Physicians for 2017.
