Great Neck, New York, August 28, 2015, Emma Laskin, Medical Doctor, has been recognized by Elite American Health Professionals, for dedication, achievement and leadership in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Laskin’s practice includes psycho-dynamic and psychotherapeutic medication management. A few of her sub-specialties include eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia) depression and bipolar disorder, and OCD.  She works with patients in these areas and always sees them for no less than 45 minutes. She takes her time with each patient, whether she sees them regularly or once every couple of months. She works with psychologists and social workers in the area of medication management, and she and her team carefully listen to each and every patient. Her child and adolescent sessions typically occur once a week, but she will also meet with the child’s parents once a month or so.

Dr. Laskin attributes her success to her education, being very approachable, friendly and trustworthy. Dr. Laskin became involved in her profession because her mother is a psychoanalyst. Initially, Dr. Laskin wanted to become a pediatrician but found that she didn’t like the area. When she was completing her medical rotation, a patient who had been diagnosed with cancer intrigued her due to her need for a consultation-liaison and psychologist. She enjoys talking to her patients and learning all about them and their history.

Dr. Laskin completed a fellowship in general psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry in 2004, as well as a residency in general psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital and an internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (now Northwell Health). She received her MD from Cornell Medical School in 1999, having completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical degree program at Harvard University. Her undergraduate degree was in art history, and she completed it at Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude. In the coming years, Dr. Laskin hopes to teach. Currently, she is on the faculty of the medical school at Hofstra University. She also hopes to stay in private practice and continue to provide quality services for her patients. Dr. Laskin enjoys working with other psychiatrists and will continue to do so in order to stay abreast of the industry’s changes and trends.
