After graduating cum laude from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts, she attended the University of Cincinnati Medical School, where she received an MD in 1982. She served as an intern and resident in obstetrics and gynecology at New York Hospital. In 1991, Dr. Lebowitz became a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has several academic appointments, including as a clinical instructor in the Department of OB-GYN at the Cornell Medical Center in New York, the Chief Residency Project for the Retrospective Review of Severe Pre-Eclampsia at New York Hospital and as a member of the Quality Assurance Committee in the Department of OB-GYN at New York Hospital. In the coming years, Dr. Lebowitz intends to focus more on her patients’ depression and how it affects their health, including quality of life, antidepressants and weight gain.
