He has received a Presidential Citation from the Michigan State Medical Society and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and of the American College of Surgeons.

Interested at an early age with obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Mariona attended the University of Buenos Aires and earned an MD in 1958. In 1992, he earned an MBA from Madonna University in Michigan. He is certified in maternal-fetal medicine from the American Board of Obstetrics/Gynecology. He completed residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at the Aria Health-Frankford Hospital and Wesley Medical Center. In the coming years, Dr. Mariona endeavors to continue experiencing professional growth.

Dr. Mariona is active in the medical community and serves on several boards and councils. He sits on the Board of Governors for the School of Medicine of Wayne State University. He is a fellow of the Detroit Medical Academy and serves on the executive council of the Wayne County Medical Society of Southeast Michigan. He lends his expertise on the Maternal Mortality Review Committee of the Michigan Department of Community Health. He has held the position of chairman, but is currently a committee member of the Perinatal Health Committee of the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Mariona also maintains affiliation with the American Medical Association, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the executive committee of the Alliance and Innovation in Maternal Healthcare.
