Coming from a family of physicians, Kevin Combs has always been inspired by the health care profession. Thus, he attended Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine, from which he graduated in 2004 with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Combs then went on to complete a residency at Norton Community Hospital. In 2014, he became board-certified in internal medicine. Additionally, he remains current in the ever-evolving field of health care through affiliations with the American Medical Association, American College of Osteopathic Internists, and the American Osteopathic Association.
Today, Dr. Combs treats patients in both the hospital and outpatient-based practice setting. He serves as an emergency room physician, outpatient medical practitioner, and ER medical director. Dr. Combs is a locum tenens physician at Russell County Medical Center, where he sees patients and assesses their situations. He makes adjustments to treatments when necessary, and does whatever he can to ensure that each patients’ health is improving. Dr. Combs is most noted for his work in diabetes treatment. During his time with Russell County Medical Center, he has served in a number of roles, including hospital chair of medicine, vice chief of staff, and director of respiratory therapy.
Dr. Combs is also an assistant professor and clinical faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He works one day a week at Maple Grove Nursing Home, where he treats approximately 30 patients. Dr. Combs believes that his faith is a huge factor in his success as a physician. He is an active member of the Full Gospel House of Prayer, as well as a supporter of the Russell County Rotary.
