Harlan Selesnick is a doctor of medicine at his own practice. He is an orthopedic surgery specialist who provides treatment for a variety of injuries, including shoulder and knee injuries, anterior cruciate ligament injuries, knee arthroscopy and replacements, reconstructive shoulder surgeries, shoulder arthroscopy, and ACL reconstruction. Dr. Selesnick decided to enter the health care field more than 30 years ago due to his love of science and mathematics, as well as the fact that his father was also a doctor. He chose this particular field because he liked working with his hands. He spends his days taking care of his patients, offering them the best options within the cutting-edge technology that is available, and diagnosing injuries and diseases. Additionally, Dr. Selesnick has been the team physician for the Miami Heat since 1988, and is currently the team physician for Miami Jai Alai, Dania Jai Alai, Miami Dade College and the Sony Open Tennis Championships. Throughout his career, Dr. Selesnick has served as the team physician for the Miami Marlins, USA Dream Team for the World Basketball Championship in Greece, and the USA Basketball Team at the Olympics in Australia. He is recognized as an expert in his field and has published more than 60 articles about arthroscopy, sports medicine, and orthopedic surgery, in addition to lecturing nationally and internationally on those topics. He was also the author of the biweekly “Jock Doc” question-and-answer column in The Miami Herald. Dr. Selesnick attributes his success to enjoying what he does, as well as his hard work, and keeping up with changes in technology. In the coming years, he intends to provide great quality care for his patients, as well as stay on top of the changes in technology in the field.
