Dr. Dix’s interest in medicine began when she was 14 years old. She wanted to be in a position to help others and eventually pursued a career as a physician. Dr. Dix has been practicing medicine for 32 years and has been serving in her current role for the past 26.

Dr. Dix, who mostly works with patients that have high-risk pregnancies, spends her days practicing maternal-fetal medicine, treating women with diabetes, birth defects, high blood pressure, rhesus disease and pre-term labor, and offering gynecologic care at a clinic for medically uninsured patients. She takes great pride in her work as she loves to care for patients and believes that maternal-fetal medicine allows for a very special relationship with patients and their families. Throughout the years, Dr. Dix has treated many women who never though they would be able to have a child, but did do to her treatment and care. For her exceptional work in the field, Dr. Dix earned the Missourian of the Year Award, as well as numerous other accolades from the health care community.

She completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Wake Forest University, a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at West Virginia University, and a residency in surgery and internship at the University of Florida. Dr. Dix was the only woman enrolled in the surgery program at the University of Florida. She also earned an MD at the University of Illinois and holds certifications in obstetrics, gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.
