Stevenson, Alabama | October 19, 2010 | G. Stephen Hayes has been recognized by Elite American Physicians for his expertise, achievements, and leadership in the healthcare industry. As director of Cumberland Center for Lifestyle Changes, Dr. Hayes might catch some off guard with his alternative philosophy on dieting. However unlikely his programs may be, nobody who has tried them can deny how effective they can be. Just ask one of his former patients—she lost 56 pounds in one month.

His methods, Dr. Hayes explained, are unique in that they target specific areas of the body. “What we do a little differently [is] we have certain agents that help decrease cravings, [agents] that help you work on fat around the middle, or fat on hips and thighs. And I think this makes a difference.” After completing the program, patients are said to feel energized and rejuvenated. They also report feeling a renewed sense of self-esteem. Most importantly, the programs do not require any dangerous diet pills. “It’s [about] losing the excess fat and becoming toned and healthy,” he said. “We serve people who have a real need and a want to lose weight, [people who] have a BMI (body mass index) of 27 and above. On the other hand, we do offer a program that’s all natural for people who just want to lose 15 to 20 pounds.

Although weight loss is the practice’s primary focus, the Cumberland Center for Lifestyle Changes also helps patients suffering from a variety of conditions, such as hair-loss and smoking. The facility also provides several anti-aging solutions and assistance for adults with attention deficit disorder.

Dr. Hayes’ formal background is in pediatric medicine. After earning an MD from the Medical College of Georgia, he went on to complete an internship and residency in the field at the same institution. Today, he is a proud member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Southern Medical Association. He also sits on the Republican Congressional Board for Business Physicians and Business Advisors’ Anti-Aging Committee.

In his free time, Dr. Hayes is an avid music promoter. A licensed songwriter through Broadcast Music, Inc., he markets emerging musical talent. He also enjoys collecting stamps, antiques and classic cars, fishing, hiking and boating.
